LanDrop Privacy Policy

This policy covers LanDrop for Windows and Android, developed by Taikutsu Lyrz (Salim Noor). Privacy questions can be sent to salimnoor0010@gmail.com.

1. What the app accesses and keeps locally

LanDrop does not require an account or a cloud storage service. Its local transfer features work without an internet connection, using your local network or a direct device connection.

These records are processed on your device and exchanged with peers where needed for the transfer. They are not automatically sent to the developer. LanDrop does not include advertising or analytics tracking.

2. Permissions and your controls

  • Files and storage: access lets you select files or folders to send and choose where incoming files are saved. Some Android versions or file-management features may request broad storage access. You control the files you share and can manage access in system settings.
  • Network and nearby Wi-Fi devices: used to find peers and establish LAN or Wi-Fi Direct connections. Network access permission also permits the local connections used by the app.
  • Location permission on older Android versions: Android 12 and earlier may require this for Wi-Fi discovery. LanDrop uses it for discovery and connection, rather than geographic location tracking.
  • Camera: used when you choose to scan a pairing or connection QR code. Camera images are not uploaded to the developer.

You can deny or revoke permissions through your device settings. Features that depend on those permissions may then be unavailable. You can stop receiving or a Wi-Fi Direct session, reject a transfer, and review trusted-device or Quick Save settings.

3. Who receives data and how transfers are protected

The device you choose receives the files you send and the metadata needed to handle them. Nearby peers may see discovery information such as your device name and network address. The recipient can keep, copy, or share a received file; only send material you intend that recipient to have.

Receiving controls include manual acceptance, optional pairing codes, and trusted-device Quick Save. Quick Save can accept files according to the settings you enable. Review the recipient and those settings before sharing.

The standard LAN transfer connection does not provide application-level transport encryption. Use it on trusted private networks. Pairing codes and acceptance controls govern receipt; they do not encrypt that connection.

Where available, optional remote sharing uses a secure connection with certificate validation and a secret invite. It connects devices directly. If you choose a separate VPN or overlay service, that provider handles its connection under its own privacy policy. Local sharing does not require these services.

4. Retention and deletion

Sent originals remain with the sender, and received files remain in the receiver’s selected storage until deleted. You can delete them using your device’s file manager. Removing a file from one device does not remove another recipient’s copy.

Local preferences, trusted-device records, history, and logs remain on the device while retained by the app. Use available app controls or your operating system’s app-storage controls to reset local data. Uninstalling the app may leave files or settings saved outside its private storage.

LanDrop has no app account or developer-hosted transfer database to delete. Your operating system’s backup or folder-sync settings may separately copy local data; those copies are governed by your system settings and the relevant provider.

5. Support messages and the website

If you email us, we receive the address, message, and attachments you choose to send. We use them to respond and resolve your request, and retain them only as needed for support or legal obligations. You can request deletion by emailing the privacy contact. Share only the logs or files needed for your question.

This website is hosted by Cloudflare. Website requests expose technical information, such as an IP address and request metadata, to the hosting provider for delivery and security. This is separate from local file transfers in the LanDrop app. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy. This website has no advertising or analytics scripts.

6. Changes and contact

Updates to this policy will appear on this page with a revised date. If the app’s data practices change, the policy will be updated to reflect them.
